Job Summary and reporting line:

This role will report to the Data Science Manager. The senior research scientist will be owning the whole product development lifecycle, from business engagement, data understanding and preparation, modeling, results communication up to the product deployment.

What you’ll do:

  • Use optimization techniques to support businesses and accordingly generate business value.

  • Design, develop and apply operations research methodologies to optimize inventory, product flows and product portfolio.

  • Apply core operations research methodologies to identify, scope and execute on opportunities to optimize and simplify operational processes.

  • Use your skills to identify business challenges and translate them into quantitative models, get them solved and deployed using the appropriate solution methods.

  • You will collaborate with other scientists, engineers, product managers and business stakeholders across Capiter to implement solutions based on scientific principles

  • Improve team processes

  • Conduct experiments and analyses to validate strategies

  • As a senior you are expected to Lead and mentor data scientists in their projects.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering or operations research, preferably a masters degree in operations research or relevant fields.

  • 3-5 years of experience in the operations research field.

  • Practical experience solving real world problems and solid understanding of optimization algorithms and tools

  • Must be self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work with minimum supervision.

  • A creative problem-solver who is passionate about digging into sophisticated problems and devising new approaches to reach results.

  • You have a strong understanding of statistics, data modelling, machine learning and optimization techniques.

  • You possess proven hands-on skills in sourcing, cleaning, manipulating, analyzing, visualizing and modeling of real data.

  • Extensive experience with programming languages such as SQL, R, Python.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid changes common in early-stage product development

  • Able to communicate complex ideas effectively – both verbally and in writing

  • Excellent English and Arabic communication skills (fluency in reading, writing, speaking).
